Title I Information

Students who have Title Services will receive additional reading and literacy support. Students with an IEP also work with their Intervention Teacher. Students who have a Reading Improvement Plan (RIMP) receive additional support and assessment.
Student Eligibility
Rock Creek and Jefferson Elementary School both have a school-wide program. This means that every student at both schools is eligible to receive Title I services. Students who are identified as at risk through teacher referrals and Ohio Achievement Tests will be served by a Title I teacher. School-wide status gives us flexibility in helping other students as well.
Parent Compact
Annually, teachers send home with students the Title I Parent Compact. Each student and their parent/guardian in grades K-6 is required to sign a School/Parent Compact. The purpose of this document is to insure that the school, parent/guardian and student all have an active role in the student’s education. Our Parent Compact is located in Final Forms with all of the other beginning of the school year forms and information that parents complete for their child at the beginning of the school year.
Title I Requirements
As a Title I school we are required to notify every parent that they may at any time request from the principal information regarding the professional qualifications of their student’s classroom teachers including:

Whether the teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas taught;

Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status in which State qualifications or licensing criteria are waived;

The teacher's baccalaureate degree major, graduate certification, and field of discipline; and
-
Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.
We are required to and will provide you a notice in a timely manner if for some unforeseen reason your child ever is assigned to be taught by, for four or more consecutive weeks, a teacher who is not properly licensed under Federal guidelines.
How We Serve Students
Reading
Students in elementary school receive instruction as per our district's literacy plan. The method of instruction depends on the student's grade level, needs, the skill being practiced, and a their reading improvement pan if they have one..
How We Gather Input To Guide The Title One Program
The Title I program gathers input from teachers, students and parents through annual surveys. In addition, parents annually receive a Title I compact and program introduction letter. The purpose of the school-parent compact is to build and foster the development of a school-parent partnership to help all children achieve the State's high standards. Responsibility for improved student achievement will be shared by parents, students, and teachers. If you would like to offer feedback or suggestions for our Title I program or the academic program at either of our elementary schools please fill out the Title 1 Parent Feedback Form.
Parent Involvement
Parents involvement continues through PTO, and zoom conferences with teachers. The parent Compact provides parents an overview of our school wide Title I program for grades K-6. Also included is information about helping students at home. We annually review our Parent Involvement Policy. We welcome suggestion on how we can better serve parents and their children. In order to streamline the parent compact process and eliminate the need for paperwork to be sent home and brought back to school, we have moved the Parent Compact form to Final Forms as a part of each school year's enrollment / student forms process. Parents will be able to sign their compact as they complete the year's required forms for each child.
Our Title I program is a School-wide Program. This means that all students at Jefferson Elementary and Rock Creek are considered Title I students. That does not mean that all students will receive extra help; however, it gives us more flexibility in helping all the students if and when he/she may need help. Our staff will still identify the students most in need of help and they will be our priority, but any student may receive an extra boost, if needed.
Each student and their parent/guardian at Jefferson Elementary and Rock Creek Elementary School is asked to sign a School/Parent Compact. This document will be be used by your student’s classroom teacher to begin the parent / teacher dialogue about their child's academic program. The purpose of this document is to insure that the school, parent/guardian and student all have an active role in the student’s education.
Rather than sending home and then collecting a paper copy of the compact, we are providing it electronically. Please take a few minutes to read our compact and then in Final Forms add your name / signature.
